From “blue traps” to “delegation poker”

Every year, all managers from Kuhn Industrie Holding, Kuhn Special Steel, kuhn.innovation and M. Jürgensen meet for a two-day intensive coaching workshop to focus on a specific topic and exchange experiences. This year, the focus was on the application of problem-solving tools, presented by V&S. These in turn are essentially based on “systems theory”, which we have established within our Group as a central guiding principle in the development of our organization, our processes and the cooperation between departments and employees. Coaching and organizational development are elementary components of our idea of a successful manager.

Benno Löffler from V&S used the first of four blocks to present effective problem-solving tools in a practical way. He used concrete examples to illustrate which factors hinder successful problem-solving and which promote it. This provided new perspectives on the role of the manager – particularly with regard to asking the right questions and creating the optimum conditions for value creation and sustainable success.

In order to be successful as an organization, it is crucial to develop a common language and deepen our understanding of the organization. As part of the problem-solving cycle, we discussed key concepts such as “blue traps and red grits”, “end monster danger”, “trust trap”, “consensus trap”, “power is a bitch” and “delegation poker”. We have analyzed when and how these tools and thought models can be used effectively.

One important finding: the prerequisite for the successful use of all tools is the existence of a “real” problem. Problem recognized, relevance check passed? GO!

And sustainable optimization through methods and tools can only be achieved if changes are integrated into everyday working life in a targeted and meaningful way. It is therefore all the more pleasing that the Kuhn Group not only invests in further training, but also creates spaces in which what has been learned can be applied in practice. In this way, we ensure our long-term development and maximize our added value.
