Represented at SMM 2024 with two subsidiaries
Review of the world’s leading trade fair for the maritime industry in Hamburg Continue reading
This year’s SMM, which took place in Hamburg from September 3 to 6, 2024, was packed to the rafters. For the first time since the coronavirus crisis, all halls were fully booked again and with 48,000 participants from more than 100 countries and 2,200 exhibitors, SMM can rightly continue to call itself the leading trade fair for the maritime industry.
Kuhn Industrie Holding was once again represented at this year’s fair by two of its subsidiaries.
For M. Jürgensen in particular, SMM is one of the most important events of the year. A wide selection of products from the product portfolio was on display at the 85 m² stand with a total of 16 exhibits. For this purpose, the exhibits were placed on the trade fair stand in centimeters using forklift trucks. This was much to the delight of many trade fair visitors, who greatly appreciated the effort involved, as many exhibitors have since decided not to bring their own exhibits.
Marine technology is also one of the core sectors in Kuhn Special Steel ‘s portfolio. The components used there must meet the highest safety requirements and the harsh environment with extreme climatic conditions and frequent exposure to seawater require the use of exceptionally resistant materials. The development and production of such materials and the subsequent dimensionally accurate finishing is one of the company’s core competencies.
The SMM, which takes place every two years, offers the opportunity to consolidate relevant market information to an extreme degree. This year, too, many interesting discussions were held with international customers, interested parties, suppliers, befriended companies and other business partners. There was a lively exchange on the latest developments and innovations. After the trade fair, the discussions will be evaluated in detail and many insights gained from them. Decarbonization and new fuels – two of the key themes of the trade fair – are challenges that our group is working intensively on and on which interesting impulses were taken away.
The atmosphere during the four days of the trade fair was consistently positive in all halls. The colleagues from both companies returned home satisfied and would like to thank all visitors and employees who contributed to the success of this trade fair with their interesting discussions and active support.
