Every ray of sunshine counts

Start of installation for our first photovoltaic system. Continue reading

With the project “The path to climate neutrality“ we have set ourselves ambitious goals to become CO2-neutral with our production sites in Germany in the long term.

We are currently taking a big step on this path with the installation of a photovoltaic (PV) system on almost all roofs of the Kuhn Special Steel company premises in Radevormwald, Germany. With over 5,000 PV modules, a PV generator area of approx. 10,000 m² will be created. With this we will be able to produce an output of 2,143 kWp. As a guide: private PV systems on single-family houses have an output between 7 and 15 kWp.

The first components were installed in March. Completion is scheduled between April and June of this year, depending on weather conditions. From then on, we will be twice as happy about every ray of sunshine. We expect annual savings of about 1,100 tons of CO2 – a strong argument for our investment but above all for our environment.

Next year, M. Jürgensen in Sörup is also expected to be equipped with a PV system.
