For a better climate and improved health
Every year, the nationwide campaign “Stadtradeln” encourages hundreds of thousands of citizens – at least temporarily – to make greater use of bicycles instead of cars as a means of transportation. The aim, of course, is to motivate more people to cycle more often in the long term – to improve the climate and promote health. Continue reading
The employees of Kuhn Special Steel in Radevormwald and M. Jürgensen in Sörup also took part in the campaign again this year and pedaled hard. From June 9 to 29, the campaign period in both municipalities coincidentally ran at the same time.
This year, there weren’t quite as many colleagues as in previous years who got on their bikes. As a result, our team in Radevormwald did not manage to finish on the podium this time, even though our top cyclist once again achieved top performance with 1,900 (!) km. But at least our team was still able to maintain a place in the top third.
In Sörup, district Schleswig-Flensburg, the starting position was different anyway with only three registered teams. Measured against the size of the team, the colleagues at M. Jürgensen did not cut a bad figure with an average of 195 kilometers cycled per head.
In total, the employees at both sites cycled 6,767 kilometers during the campaign period, saving just over a ton of CO2. An impressive result for which we would like to congratulate all participants from Kuhn Special Steel and M. Jürgensen! We are already looking forward to next year.
