Leadership development with our own coach
Our key to sustainable success in training and supporting managers. Continue reading
Our group of companies attaches great importance to good training and development for our managers. We rely on Dieter Heitsch’s coaching philosophy, which has proven its worth in our corporate culture for many years (read more here). This philosophy forms the basis for how we understand collaboration and leadership in a dynamic and increasingly complex working environment. For us, it is a central component of our management culture and promotes not only the independence of our employees, but also the ability to achieve top performance in a cooperative environment.
From trainee to internal coach
An outstanding example of the successful implementation of this philosophy in our company is René Steinbach, who now plays a central role in training and supporting our managers as an internal coach. His career at Kuhn Special Steel began in 2009 as an apprentice in the machining department. After a few years in shift work, he decided to take up a part-time degree in mechanical engineering, which also gave him deeper insights into various areas of the company.
Coaching as the basis of our management culture
Through his later work as a team leader in Planning & Control, René Steinbach came into contact with our internal coaching program for the first time – and was immediately impressed. His coach at the time quickly recognized his talent for coaching and encouraged him to pursue this path further. When the position of internal coach became vacant, René Steinbach took the opportunity to apply for the role.
After an intensive one-year training course, which included both training and work shadowing, René Steinbach took on responsibility for the Group-wide coaching strategy. Today, he accompanies all managers and works council members on their way to becoming coaches and thus implementing the philosophy in their daily work.
Continuous development through regular workshops
René Steinbach not only organizes the basic training for our group, but also annual intensive coaching workshops in which key topics are explored in greater depth and new approaches are developed. These workshops offer the opportunity to immerse oneself in the principles of the coach philosophy and other topics of modern management and organizational methods away from everyday life and to test them through practical exercises.
René Steinbach is also available as a moderator and mediator for all employees to provide support in the event of conflicts or special challenges. His passion for the coaching methodology is evident in his daily work, which he uses to positively shape and develop the corporate culture.
Sustainable anchoring of the coaching philosophy in everyday company life
Through our continuous training and the close support of our internal coach, we ensure that the coaching philosophy remains firmly anchored in our day-to-day business. It has become a central part of our Group’s corporate culture at both locations in Radevormwald and Sörup. By empowering our managers to act as coaches, we promote a culture of openness, mutual trust and continuous development – key factors for success in a dynamic working environment.
